Post Surgical Rehabilitation
Recovery & Strength Building
Post-Surgical Rehabilitation Exercise Physiology
-
Rehabilitation after surgery provides significant benefits to recovery.
-
It promotes healing by improving strength and mobility. This allows you to get up and get moving earlier.
Resulting in less pain and inflammation, preventing complications and less time in hospital. Rehabiliattaion after surgery provides a complete return to normal activities.
How Does Post-Operative Rehabilitation Work?
-
It ultimately depends on what procedure was done, but usually after seeing the surgeon in hospital, the ward physio will see you and show you basic movements and exercises to start the process.
-
You may start rehabilitation while you recover in hospital, this is called 'in-patient rehabilitation', this can last a few days during your hospital stay.
-
When you are discharged from hospital you will then be referred to a post-surgical rehabilitation physical therapy clinic (such as our facility) outside the hospital, this is called "out-patient rehabilitation".
-
Your rehabilitation will then continue in the facility or yourself at home, again it all ultimately depends on what surgery you had done as everything has different healing times and recovery periods, as well as your goals to create a tailored recovery plan for you.
